a new chapter of watercolor

 hello!

I am SO excited to show you what I've been painting lately.

I've been doing a lot of loose wet-on-wet floral doodles with this watercolor set I got last year.

these lil guys are excellent! the paint is not chalky like watercolors ive used before & the colors are vibrant. I also really like the size and variety of colors - the only critique I have is that there's no purple and the green is a lil artificial looking...but those problems can be solved with the magic of color mixing

anyway.

the work of artist Carolyn Gavin has always been very appealing to me and I have used her as an example for kids' classes and adults' classes. her work is so fun and colorful! anyway, I love trying to kind of reference her floral designs in watercolor.

this ⬆️ is me sorta doing that.

lately ive been getting more experimental with it, just piecing shapes together and letting the colors blur
here's some more floral stuff ⬆️
here I used a ballpoint pen to draw some dark lines into this design

Carolyn Gavin has some beautiful paintings of floral designs on a figure's head, which I love, and copied a little down here ⬇️

this one ☝️ has some crayon in it too

here's one of the Carolyn Gavin paintings that inspired those:

so I have branched out a little into mixed media from just the watercolors.
this one has a little acrylic paint and acrylic marker

this one ☝️ also has acrylic marker

ive also been into painting martini glasses 🍸 as of late

that's about it for that. I do plan on posting about my artist retreat that I hosted recently! so look out for that.

thanks for reading!!
