india ink in empty paint pens

Image
hello !  my partner got me these empty paint markers years ago. I filled 4 of them with acrylic paint + water and I liked them! but I kinda forgot about them for a while. after finding them again, 3 years later, I had the idea 💡 to put india ink in them!  I added a tiny bit of ink to each the empty ones, and filled the rest of one of them with water. so I have a gray and a black ink marker! so I tested them out ! this page is just the gray one. I was instantly Shook how fun it was. the lines were easier to control but it still Looked like ink wash.  (this is the ink I used btw) so I used the gray one on random lil line art drawings in my sketchbook!!! I really like the super dark gray and the black together. usually when I tone something with gray I choose a medium or lighter gray the dark gray shadows kinda make it look like really harsh lighting   I even did some line work just in the gray marker. I feel like these would be great for comics. this one ...

fun new supplies! + some other things

Image
hi friends!  the other day I was walking by the easter basket stuffers section of the store & came across these bad boys for like $4!!! I hadn't bought art supplies in a while (ive been known to buy too many art supplies that I don't need) so I decided $4 wasn't too unreasonable for these lil markers. I just love the color selection!!! plus, cheap water-based markers (washable markers) are so fun. and can be used for a bunch of different stuff! I will have to try styrofoam printmaking with them soon. so I drew this lil doodle of some of my ocs walkin  im really happy with it / the markers in general!  I used them on mixed media paper and let them dry a couple minutes before layering them  I would recommend doing that, because I also tried them on thinner sketch paper and Did Not wait for each layer to dry and it made the paper all pulpy and weird.  here's another oc doodle but wait . I also bought these while I was out: I've wanted to try tempera paint...

mapcrunch adventures

Image
hiiiii have you heard of mapcrunch ??? it's a website that plops you somewhere random in the world via google streetview.  like this: this is today's default location. I THINK everyday they pick one pretty/interesting location for the default one, but you can look at as many as you want . something I used to do a lot was draw those locations! I used to treat it kind of like plein air painting, where i'd try to capture The Vibes and draw/paint accuratelyish.  today I planned on doing that. but then I realized I was Not in the mood to draw directly from a reference.  so I tried something different ! I spent a small amount of time on each drawing, and just simplified each image like A Ton  here's the first page I did: I used markers ! I kinda wish I saved the reference photos from these  this page isn't as cute. but I liked picking out my favorite parts of each image and drawing it in a way that made sense/was fun  anotha one.  short post but I hi...
